Who we are
The Pinoy Basketball sa Auckland Inc. (PBA) is a community sporting club established by basketball loving Pinoys primarily but not limited to the Pinoy community in the Auckland region. The PBA, like most community based and non-profit organisations, undertakes sporting events through funds raised from membership contributions, sponsorship, donations and community grants.
What we do
PBA is created to provide an opportunity for the Auckland Filipino community to maintain regular interaction primarily through holding basketball tournaments.
Our people
Although the club is still young, it currently has over 260 members. Most of the sports activities are run through an active club management with significant voluntary support from both player and non-player members. We are more of a social family than just a club, feeding off each other's enthusiasm towards sports development.
Our programmes
Each year PBA envisages holding regular basketball tournaments that will involve both children and adults. These are tournaments held for under-17 boys group, girls league, under-25 mens' and the open league. To keep the passion for the game going among the community members, PBA has also embarked to create Hoopstart, a programme to help develop interest and skills among young and budding basketball players. PBA also facilitates holding of other sporting activities like volleyball, badminton among others, in collaboration with other Filipino sports organisations in Auckland. Please contact any PBA member for information on the 2011Programme.
